Communication and Advocacy Officer at Association of Malawian Midwives

The Association of Malawian Midwives (AMAMI), a Malawian registered non-governmental organization established in 1997, with a mission to advance and safeguard interests and welfare of midwives in providing quality midwifery services to improve maternal and newborn health outcomes in Malawi, is looking for highly qualified candidates to fill the above listed vacant positions at its Secretariat based in Lilongwe. Details for each position are as follows:

Communication and Advocacy Officer

Candidates for this position must:

• Be mature, aged between 25 to 45 years
• Have a university degree in Mass Communication, Journalism or Social and Development Communication
• Have a minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in a busy organization as a communication and advocacy officer.
• The applicant must also have a comprehensive skills set and strong experience in handling communication, advocacy, service promotion and organizational visibility.

Skills and Competencies

• Knowledge of NGO sector operations
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience in dealing with the media locally, regionally and nationally
• Online communication skills and working with blogs, press releases, reports, social media engagement and website updating.
• Excellent computer skills with knowledge of latest packages
• High attention to detail and accuracy.

Nature of Work and Conditions

All these positions will be full time on contractual basis, initially for 2 years and renewable subject to work performance, achievement of deliverables and availability of funds.
