The Local Government Service Commission is inviting applications from suitably qualified MalNkhotakota District Councilawians to fill the following vacant posts that exist in the different sectors of Nkhotakota District Council.

JOB TITLE: CLINICAL TECHNICIAN (OPHTHALMOLOGY)

GRADE: K/M9
REPORTING TO: SENIOR CLINICAL TECHNICIAN

QUALIFICATION

Applicants must be in possession of a Diploma in Clinical Ophthalmology from accredited institutions and must be registered with Medical Council of Malawi.

DUTIES

1. Performing complete ophthalmic history and preliminary exams, sub-specialty tests (refraction, VF test, A-Scan Biometry (IOL master), verifies patient information by interviewing patient, recording medical history, and confirming purpose.
2. Accurately records all information data record tools according to established standards.
3. Conducts extra ocular surgeries including evisceration.
4. Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records.
5. Counsels patients by transmitting ophthalmologist orders, use of drops, contact lenses, drugs, and answer questions about surgery and speciality imagining required/ordered.
6. Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures along with complying with legal regulations.
7. Processing prescription refill requests.
8. Maintains stock in exam room in accordance to standard inventory.
9. Maintains minor theatre stock and all sterilization of instruments.
10. Sets up and prep for theatre procedures.
11. Any other duties deemed reasonable for the post.
