VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Everlasting Life Ministry is a local Malawian Christian Organization whose main objective is to preach the gospel and  in the process also support and care for orphans and other vulnerable children in Malawi. It was established on 1st September 2011 and officially registered under the Trustees incorporation act of Malawi in 2012. We are affiliated to CONGOMA. The organization is seeking to recruit a competent, committed, self-motivated, and enthusiastic and God-fearing candidates of Malawian nationality for the positions as detailed below:

Position: Child Care Center Officer Welfare

Reporting to: Centre Supervisor

Location: Head Office, Zomba

Status of Employment: 1 Year contract

Overall Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of the child care center officer welfare is to manage over 2 child care centers and foster homes the welfare and health of over 100 children.

Key roles and responsibilities

  • Daycare & Fosterhome
  • Preparing and disbursing weekly/monthly budgets (other costs) for all CCCs.
  • Weekly visits to CCC’s to monitor (with observations tools) of daily activities at the day care.
  • Weekly visits to CCC’s to facilitate implementation of daily activities at the day care – working closely together with the Centre Supervisor.
  • Organizing (hand in hand with center supervisor) health and dental checks once in  a year
  • Closely following up on children who have been admitted at the hospital and/or are under treatment.
  • Maintaining health files of children at the head office (drop-box) and CCCs (health formats)
  • Ensuring that necessities (handouts etc.) of CCC and foster home children are prepared and delivered timely by organizing requisition forms, making requisitions etc.
  • Conducting home assessments and be part of the admission team for both CCC and Foster home.
  • Part of the disciplinary team at the CCC when holding disciplinary meetings for CCC staff (subordinates) and learners.

OUTSIDE CENTRE KIDS

  • Build up a strong relationship with the children outside the care Centre and to have conversations with them frequently.
  • Counselling of children on behavior issues.
  • Weekly visits to homes of kids staying outside the center to monitor (with observations tools) of daily activities at the homes.

General

  • Take part in monthly meetings with ccc team and orphan care consultant and/or pm about ongoing activities / issues at overall ccc level.
  • Report on quarterly base via presentations to ccc team and pm about the observations, health issue and other necessary reports from the past quarter.
  • Reporting of day care and foster home activities during to the PM.
  • Coming up with areas to improve and making a plan per area to work on and implement on quarterly base (in some cases hand in hand with the centre supervisor).
  • Planning and organizing refresher meetings for CCC members of staff (in some cases hand in hand with orphan care consultant).
  • Building up relationship and keep on in cooperation and DHO the social welfare representatives on matters concerning CCC beneficiaries (children)
  • Conducting performance evaluation of home parents.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATION AND COMPETENCIES

  • At least a diploma in Public Health, Nutrition or Diploma in Community Health/Diploma in Social Studies or  any other relevant qualification related to this vacancy.
  • Minimum of 3 year working experience or any other relevant job related to this vacancy.
  • Relevant work experience and knowledge related to health, nutrition and OVCs.
  • Knowledge about how to monitor on health status of children and improve if needed
  • Relevant work experience in counselling OVC’s
  • Knowledge / experience about nutrition, health care, behaviour, disabilities, pedagogics and background of OVC’s.
  • Knowledge / experience about monitoring and evaluation and reporting about it
  • Knowledge / experience about how to develop project plans
  • Knowledge / experience about (developing) observation(s) tools
  • Emphatic person
  • Management skills / natural leadership
  • Humble
  • Able to work with people of different (education) levels and also to empower them
  • Proven vast experience with Excel.
  • Honesty and ability to work under minimum supervision.
  • Attention to detail, good at planning meeting tight deadlines. On top of things.
  • Able to handle many different tasks at the same time.
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Innovate in bringing up new ideas and bring up improvement.
