Chief Producer – Light Entertainment And Drama – Development Broadcasting Unit at Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC)

The Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) is inviting applications from suitably : qualified and experienced candidates to fill vacant positions existing in its Programmes Directorate as follows:

CHIEF PRODUCER – LIGHT ENTERTAINMENT AND DRAMA – DEVELOPMENT BROADCASTING UNIT

Key Duties and Responsibilities

1. Develops and pitches ideas for programs
2. Script writes or works with script writers for radio plays
3. Edits scripts before production or post production
4. Identifies and manages actors
5. Produces quality programs for broadcast
6. Vets and approves scripts from external script writers
7. Collects programme material for production
8. Supervises producers
9. Writes quarterly reports

Qualifications, Experience and Attributes:

• Degree in Drama, Communications or its equivalent from a reputable institution
• At least four years’ experience in radio drama
• At least four years experience in radio production
• Must have a love of story-telling and drama
• Must be a confident communicator with strong writing skills
• Must have excellent editorial judgement and be able to direct the action in a drama studio
• Must have strong interpersonal skills
• Must have excellent time management and planning skills
