Role Purpose
The Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) is a member of the core Management Board whose main responsibilities are to drive the commercial innovation and drive the development and execution of the expansion strategy that enables FINCA meets its strategic objectives.
In leading this process, the CCO will be responsible for working with relevant teams in Operations, Banking Services, Risk and Compliance to ensure that the processes have relevant risk mitigation factors, meets the needs of our clients and enable FINCA to provide Responsible Banking to its internal and external stakeholders.
The CCO will strive to ensure that FINCA presents characteristics consistent with an ethos that will win stakeholder trust, responds to client needs and remain a key player in utilizing developments in alternate delivery channels to maintain operational efficiency and profitability.
Accountabilities
Organizational Development
- Responsible for increasing the market share of the institution through developing of new and innovative technologies for business outreach.
- Proposes and implements the business strategy for the respective subsidiary in order to meet the business targets.
- Drives and implements the commercial operation plan of the institution.
- Ensures portfolio growth, quality of overall portfolio and arrears management.
- Ensures Business process improvements and contemporary methods for business management.
- Oversees the overall retention effort and ensuring that KPI targets are met.
- Ensures that all the operational KPI’s of the subsidiary are met as per budget and scorecard.
- The institutional results should be in line with the budget on the profitability, the customer outreach, the portfolio quality, the customer satisfaction, the retention rate, the distribution channels, the input of new technologies in the business, the depositor number and volume and the customer satisfaction with the products and services received.
- Manages and coordinates all important Business Projects in timely manner with all the respective stakeholders.
- Sets forward and drives new projects and new ideas that help increase business results of the subsidiary.
Products and Channels
- Develops and implements Marketing, Sales and Product Development strategies to achieve the strategic business goals of the institution.
- Ensures the accomplishment of the business results through customer-oriented products and services.
- Leads the business strategy to increase customer growth and retention.
- Monitors the performance with regards to retention program of the sales call center agents, centralized credit underwriting unit, data analyst, and all other team members involved in the retention effort.
- Development and commercialization of agency, branch and mobile channels.
Risk and Compliance
- Supports and reinforces an effective RCSA (risk control self-assessment) program for all key business processes related to the employee’s work area, including adopting control improvements when needed and actively contributing to meet all RCSA corrective action plan commitments.
People and Leadership
- Provides leadership, management and strategic direction for FINCA employees.
- Cultivates a high-performance working environment, sense of belonging (‘team spirit’), and affinity to FINCA’s mission and brand values among the work force.
- Leads and coordinates work of subordinated staff.
- Anticipates staffing needs, participates in recruitment efforts for subordinated staff, attracts the right people in support of growth and outreach plans.
- Retains, motivates and maximizes productivity of staff through effective leadership, mentoring, transparent communication, performance management, and career planning.
- Sets and successfully communicates performance measurements and targets to staff in a way that drives business growth, provides positive motivation for staff, and aligns with FINCA’s corporate strategy.
Job Requirements
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in business administration, Management, Finance, Economics, Marketing or related field is required.
Experience
- Minimum of 10 years hands-on experience working in banking or microfinance with at least 3-year experience in comparable positions in terms of responsibility.
- Strong experience with Sales, team cooperation, market knowledge, and digital business products is required.
Knowledge and Skills
- Experience in developing and implementing strategic and operational plans for financial institutions.
- Experience in credit origination and credit risk assessment, business experience in (a) micro lending, (b) small enterprise lending, (c) rural and group lending.
- Experience in deposit mobilisation through low value savings as well as high value Term Deposits.
- Experience with electronic payment channels and mobile financial services.
- Able to manage simultaneously multiple projects involving various stakeholders and to deliver results within deadlines.
- Time management, people management and leadership skills.
- Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to delegate and to empower teams.
- Ability to be a strongly credible ambassador for the FIF brand, including making presentations, and able to establish respect and credibility with media outlets.
- Strong skills in analysis, problem solving and resolving disputes.

Travel requirements
- Availability to travel up to 40% of the time.
