Malawi AIDS Counselling and Resource Organization (MACRO)

Malawi AIDS Counselling and Resource Organization (MACRO) is a locally registered non-governmental organization (NGO) established in 1995 to complement Government’s efforts in in the fight against HIV and AIDS and other health related issues. MACRO’s Vision is Malawi populace free of ill-Health and its Mission is To transform lives of Malawians through provision of high quality HIV and AIDS, and other health related services

With funding from CDC through Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF), MACRO is implementing the Achieving HIV Epidemic Control Through Quality HIV Testing Services: The PIVOT Project in southern and central western districts of Malawi. In order to efficiently and effectively execute its mandate, MACRO is inviting applications from suitably qualified individuals to fill the position of Care and Treatment Lead tenable in Blantyre;

 

 

Location: Blantyre

Salary: A range of MK 2,500,000.00 to MK 3,500,000.00 per month

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Medicine/Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing/MBBS
  • Master of Public Health (MPH); Master of Sciences Epidemiology (MSc) or equivalent postgraduate degree or experience is an added advantage.
  • Trained in recent ART guide lines
  • Strong experience in providing mentorship, technical assistance and management of HIV related projects
  • Self-motivated and demonstrated success in building effective programs in resource-limited settings

EXPERIENCE

  • At least five years of proven experience in HIV and TB-project design, administration, management and implementation.
  • Conversant with HIV Testing Services Guidelines
  • Extensive clinical experience in care of HIV infected adults and children in resource poor settings
  • Experience or knowledge of managing PEPFAR grants is an added advantage
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Familiarity with latest Malawi ART guidelines
  • Excellent communication and writing skills including donor reports
  • Familiarity with PEPFAR’s administrative, management and reporting procedures and systems
  • Excellent collaboration and partnering skills in a teamwork environment
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects while working as part of a team
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Project Management skills

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide technical oversight, strategic direction and definition of project activities related to HIV linkage, treatment, care and support
  • Coordinate HRH related activities such as staffing needs, training needs assessment,staff deployment and capacity building of service providers
  • Work with project officers to ensure strategies to improve linkage, adherence and retention in care based on risk assessment are implemented
  • Capacity building and updating MACRO district teams on new developments in COVID outbreak response programming
  • Provide technical support to health facilities in case surveillance, treatment, and IPC for COVID -19
  • Provide insight in translating scientific evidence to improve practice and quality in service delivery for people living with HIV (PLHIV)
  • Keep abreast of current scientific literature to propose innovative, locally relevant approaches in addressing challenges
  • Work with M&E staff to design and implement a plan to track data/results to inform adjustments in project implementation
  • Collaboratively develop project work plans with project staff to ensure timely implementation and compliance to the requirements and regulations of the award.
