The Bantwana Initiative of World Education

The Bantwana Initiative of World Education Inc. (WEI/Bantwana) seeks qualified Campus Coordinators for the USAID funded Ana Patsogolo Activity. Ana Patsogolo Activity (APA) is a five-year USAID funded project designed is to prevent new HIV infections and reduce vulnerability among orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) -and adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) in eight high burden districts in Malawi’s southern region . This activity contributes to Malawi Government efforts for HIV epidemic control and the 95; 95:95 goals. To achieve this, the APA will identify the eligible AGYW aged 15013 24 years from Tertiary institutions to be enrolled into DREAMS clubs. DREAMS in Tertiary institutions will be offered to institutions of higher learning from Blantyre, Machinga and Zomba. APA will identify campus coordinators to coordinate, mentor, promote linkage to services within the institutions. APA will:

 

 

  • Identify campus coordinators
  • Train campus coordinators on DREAMS toolkit and DREAMS programming
  • SOW for DREAMS Campus coordinators under the APA project The DREAMS campus coordinators will operate at Tertiary level, working with University/College registrar, district DREAMS officer, Technical working groups (TWGs), student representatives Facility in charge and clinical partners. The position will directly supervise DREAMS club and offer sessions.
  • Reporting to the DREAMS Program Manager and getting support from the Technical Specialist for Social Asset Building, Campus coordinators will be responsible for the following activities.
  • Lead implementation of DREAMS activities on college/University campus.
  • Support recruitment of DREAMS Peer mentors and coordinate their orientation and training on the DIT curriculum, ensuring that they are well versed with the curriculum/ programme.
  • Identify and train lead Mentors using the modified Lead Facilitator manual, provide mentorship and coaching as well as supportive supervision to the selected Campus DREAMS Lead Mentors.
  • Facilitate the tertiary Institution’s MY DREAMS MY CHOICE toolkit
  • Jointly plan/schedule with DREAMS Lead Mentors and Peer mentors the delivery of MDMC sessions and service provision by clinical partners.
  • Supporting mobilization of AGYW for enrolment into DREAMS.
  • Respond any issues on DREAMS to members of academia with consultation with Officers.
  • Coordinate secondary service provision by the clinical or community service provision partners and ensure that layering of services is done timely
  • Identify and coordinate Service providers for Mental Health, Psychosocial Support, post GBV and other counselling service for AGYW.
  • Identify bottlenecks, opportunities and challenges on DREAMS implementation at campus level and work with campus team to identify possible strategies to address.
  • Ensure bi-directional referrals are completed and data captured accordingly.
  • Facilitate establishment of campus steering Committee which should be chaired by a senior Managements official.
  • Support M&E in Monitoring DREAMS implementation on Campus.
  • Build capacity of the DREAMS Peer mentors/ Lead Mentor on data capturing reporting and transmission, ensuring that data is of good quality (consistency, accuracy, and Validity,
  • Attend other stakeholder meetings consistently to raise awareness and advocate for AGYW safe environment.
  • Produce monthly report on Sessions and service provision progress.
  • Provide quarterly progress report to senior Management (Registrar and Dean of Students, support staff and student representative) on Quarterly basis supported by Secretariat (Tech Specialist and Tech Lead.

Qualification and Experience

  • Degree in Community Development, Psychology, Social Sciences, Nursing, Public Health or any relevant field.
  • Previous experience in offering counselling or psychosocial support services. Those with counselling/ Psychosocial Support qualification will have an added advantage.
  • Should have knowledge of resources on Campus and within the community/ Campus catchment area
  • Previous experience in DREAMS/AGYW programming or supporting girls clubs.
  • Experience in M&E and use of DHIS2.
  • Good command of English and report writing
  • Good communication
  • Good leadership and facilitation skills
