Background

The Catholic Diocese of Mzuzu has three main focus areas: a) Pastoral Care; b) Human and Social Development and c) Institutional Development. Under the Human and Social Development focus area, the main strategic goal is: “To promote sustainable socioeconomic development among individuals, families and communities in the Diocese of Mzuzu.” Under this focus area two of its strategic objectives are “To improve Sustainable Livelihoods in the Diocese” and “To improve access to and quality of education at all levels in the Diocese.”

It is for this reason that the Catholic Diocese of Mzuzu is calling for applications to fill the vacant positions under CADECOM department and Education Department as follows:

 

 

Purpose Of The Position

To oversee & manage the smooth, efficient and effective implementation, monitoring and expansion of all CADECOM projects and activities.

Specific Duties And Responsibilities

  • Plan, manage & facilitate implementation of all projects undertaken by the department.
  • In liaison with the office of the Director of Finance, Investment and Administration (DOFIA), ensure the projects budgeting are implemented inline with the donor agreements and Mzuzu Diocese financial policy.
  • Coordinating MEAL-activities,
    overall Implementation of the programme’s MEAL standards and quality assurance of MEAL related reporting by project team.
  • Compile/Develop work plans and progress reports as required by management, donors and other stakeholders.
  • Facilitate growth & expansion of CADECOM operations through proposal development and any other resource mobilization strategies.
  • Identify capacity building needs of CADECOM staff and the Diocese at large and implement capacity building strategies
  • Organize and facilitate planning meetings, quarterly, bi-annual and annual review of all project teams.
  • Directly coordinate and manage some projects and Model Farming Training Centre for the Diocese in liaison with the Director of Social
  • Development, facilitate recruitment of staff when need arises
  • Represent CADECOM /to local government authorities forums, partners’ forums, pastora arm and ensure ali reievant partners and stakeholders are kept informed of CADECOM activities as appropriate.
  • Ensure Cross-cutting (gender, disability, child.protection, HIV and AIDS and environmental)
  • Issues are effectively taken on board in all program plans and activities
  • Manage performance of all staff within CADECOM
  • Oversee the operations of the sub offices in liaison with the Zone Managers and Project Managers.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by management from time to time.

Requirements

Among Other requirements, we are looking for aperson with the following attributes:

  • Master’s Degree in Agriculture, Agricuiture Extension, Agribusiness
  • Management, Development studies or similar field required. Those with a first Degree, and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in management position will be considered.
  • Proven experience in project proposal development, project implementation as well as project monitoring and evałuation will be an added advantage.
  • Experience in implementation of livelihoods activities i.e. Climate Smart Agriculture, Value-addition, WASH, Livestock management, Micro finance, Entrepreneurship among others)
  • Strong strategic, analytical, systems thinking, and problem-solving skills. with capacity to see the big picture and ability to make solid judgment and decisions.
  • Team leadership abilities with diverse/multi disciplinary teams.
  • Strong communications and presentation skills; able to develop tailored and persuasive messaging for varied audiences.
  • Proactive, resourceful, solutions- oriented and results-oriented.
