Wealthnet Finance Public Limited Company is registered and regulated by the Reserve Bank of Malawi as a Deposit Taking Microfinance Institution. The company owns a digital banking and payment platform called KakuPay Smart Money. In short, the company does banking and mobile money business. The company was established to profitably support Malawians build wealth and be financially free and self-reliant. Through its Kakupay Smart Money platform, Wealthnet is implementing an Electronic Payment Services Climate Smart Enhanced Public Works Programme (CSPWP) and Social Cash Transfer Programme (SCTP) in Mzimba, Mwanza, Neno and Zomba Districts. The institution is looking for visionary, innovative and strong candidates to take on the positions listed as follow;

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT OFFICERS (4) Mzimba 1, Mwanza 1, Neno 1 and Zomba 1

The BDOs will be stationed in the districts for the purpose of smooth facilitation of Electronic Payment Services for Climate Smart Enhanced Public Works Programme (CSPWP) and Social Cash Transfer Programme (SCTP) in Mzimba, Mwanza, Neno and Zomba Districts.

Reporting to: Business Development Manager

Major tasks and responsibilities;

  • Register agents and merchants in all districts and perform ‘Know Your Customer’ (KYC) for all Agents who are willing be registered as KAKUPAY Agents.
  • Managing registered beneficiaries and reporting any anomalies
  • Meet with loan applicants and determine their needs and gather data for loan application.
  • Review active loan files regularly and suggest ways to speed up the lending process
  • Complete loan agreements and instruct clients on rules and regulations
  • Interview applicants to determine their financial eligibility and create debt repayment arrangements.
  • Underwriting loans and be able to mobilize deposits for the beneficiaries and other clients.
  • Coordinate activities for super dealers and agents and ensure that they have adequate liquidity for SCT and CSEPWP beneficiaries.
  • Delivering excellent customer service by effectively handling queries and complaints from clients promptly.
  • Providing timely, up-to-date information and reports to management regarding the status of the project in terms of execution.
  • Training and supporting beneficiaries in respect to organization’s products.
  • Representing the company in meetings at district level.
  • Should be able to use initiatives, especially in hard to reach areas and where network is problems. s/he should be able to organize how cash will be delivered to the beneficiaries.
  • Build and manage relationships and coordinate activities with the District Council and other partners from time to time.
  • Should be able to look for other business opportunities within the districts
  • Manage relations with the Traditional Authorities (T/A), Chiefs and the entire Communities.
  • Reconcile and report all company materials and Assets and be accountable for company assets in their possessions.
  • Onboard new subscribers on the Kakupay platform

Qualifications, Experience and Skills;

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a business related course or equivalent from a reputable institution
  • Minimum two (2) years’ relevant experience
  • Experience in working with Social Cash Transfer and public works programme will be an added advantage
  • Proficient in Microsoft office suite
  • Strong people engagement and influencing skills with the ability to build relationships, communicate, present, negotiate and resolve conflicts.
