About the Opportunity:

We are gearing up for massive growth over the next 12-24 months and are looking for a Business Development Manager in Malawi to join our Commercial Team to help us expand our already robust local operations. To help us achieve our vision, we are looking to appoint a new Business Development Manager who will work closely with our Head of Social Impact. We are seeking an inspirational, high-energy person to join our Crew  and help drive our growth and capitalise on opportunities. This will be an opportunity like no other! You will be at the forefront of an emerging global sector. This is a mid-level role and would also suit someone with 5+  years of experience in consulting, business or corporate development, strategy or a high growth startup.

Responsibilities:

Build long-term relationships with new and existing customers – you will have a knack for quickly developing a deep understanding of customers’ needs. This will enable you to build a pertinent business case, develop details of future operations, including budget and network design and create customised collateral. You will work to ensure successful contract extensions, expansion, and conversion sales.

Business development – you will utilise your commercial acumen and capitalise on your well-developed networks to nurture existing business and uncover new opportunities. You will be responsible for guiding clients through the entire Swoop Aero sales process based on the overall commercial strategy. This will include leading client meetings, rapidly qualifying opportunities to focus on the highest leverage ones, conducting client follow-ups and analysing value in multi-stakeholder projects.

Commercial Relationship building – you will confidently build relationships with key operational and channel partners to align product needs and facilitate partnership development. You will work with other areas of the business to ensure all customer requirements are fulfilled before kick-off and hand over to the Swoop Aero operations team.

Research and analysis – you will research and interact with and research industries such as healthcare, resources, maritime and shipping, government and local authorities, retail, humanitarian and NGOs to identify mutual value/opportunities and move these forward.

What you will bring to the role:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, International Development or equivalent experience
  • Successful track record in B2B sales and negotiation with 5+ years experience. Highly desirable experience include work dealing within healthcare, supply chain and logistics, and government relationships
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to manage and build relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholders
  • Self-motivated & ability to work cross functionally and autonomously when required
  • Experience with CRM software (i.e., Hubspot, Salesforce)
