Position: Boarding Master and Matron
The CCAP Blantyre Synod Education Department seeks to fill the following positions in its Mission Private Secondary Schools.
Position: Boarding Master and Matron
As a Boarding Master /school matron, he/she works in a boarding school. She/he would be responsible for the health and well-being of the pupils and the smooth running of the domestic side of school life.
Boarding Master/ Matron is required to play a key role in the pastoral care of all the pupils in the boarding house on a day-to-day basis, with particular responsibility for the physical, social and emotional well-being and presentation of the pupils in the House. Ultimately, the objective of the House Matron is to play a significant role in establishing a ‘home away from home’ environment in which the boarders are at ease and are happy.
Required Qualifications /Skills/ Knowledge
  • Community Nursing Qualification / Community Development / Public Health / Social Worker/ T2 Certificate or any related qualification.
  • Counselling experience and those who have worked with teenagers have an added advantage.
  • Experience working in a School setting
  • First Aid Certificate or experience
  • Appropriate and updated medical training and experience
  • Ability to keep abreast of new techniques
  • Excellent Communication skills and ability to build effective working relationships with staff and management at all levels.
  • Basic computer skills
  • An appreciation of children’s specific needs and a desire to play an active role within the life of the school
  • Ability to use excellent nursing skills and evidence-based practise when treating injured or sick students.
