Role Purpose

The Associate Marketing, Branding and Communication’s Officer’s (MBCO) goal is to support the marketing, branding, and communication functions of the organization as led by the Officer. The post has a portfolio of three sets: branding and marketing, and communication. All sets are packaged in an intertwined, varied, and defined share of percentages reflecting level of effort in each portfolio. The percentage share reflecting the Associate’s Marketing, Branding and Communication’s Officer (AMBCO) effort will be as follows: Marketing (30%), Branding (30%) and Communication (40%).  You will be reporting to the Marketing, Branding, and Communication Officer and job appraisals will be done each quarter in retrospective of the planned activities and subsequently, organization goals.

 

 

Key Areas of Accountability

Provide micro level support on marketing (30%)

Help in developing and executing a digital and social media strategy that ensures longtime supporters remain connected and new friends are motivated to join us and share our mission.
Support crafting client-focused storytelling pieces that illustrate the importance of all our programs.
Aid in building and executing an active and robust social media presence by creating original content and content partnerships.
Help in building and maintaining digital fundraising campaign sites/pages for specific campaigns.
Contribute to the developing analytics-based marketing metrics that help inform and/or refine strategies for specific communications vehicles (social, email, etc.)

Provide micro level support on Branding (30%)

Support in working with outside vendors (including designers, printers, photographers, etc.) to maintain brand integrity, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
Help in working with staff to ensure that brand identity and voice are used consistently throughout the organization.
Contribute to Devising innovative growth strategies.
Help alignment of the organization around the brand’s direction, choices and tactics
Support creative development to motivate the target audience to “take action.”
Contribute to the shaping and communication of our vision and mission.

Provide micro level support on communication (40%)

Assist in developing concise, compelling content for use in appeals (print and electronic), blog posts, acknowledgement letters, email, newsletters (print and electronic), and other communication.
Help in using creative and technical skills to build, target, and send email campaigns, newsletters, and other communications.
Support the maintenance of the website by creating and editing pages, posts, images, calendar events, etc.
Assisting with media relations efforts, including writing and editing copy for print/online materials, press releases, and media pitches, as well as coordinating on-site interviews, photoshoots, etc.
Assist in communication of strategies or messages from senior leadership.
Support the drafting of content (e.g. press releases) for mass media or company website
Help in developing effective corporate communication strategies.

Qualification
·       A bachelor’s degree in graphic design or any related field with hands-on experience in multimedia design, advertising, photography, illustration, or web design
·       2 – 3 years post university experience in designing

Other Essential Skills and Attributes
·       Must have an innate creativity and an eye for design.
·       Strong communication skills
·       Comfortable to work in a team environment and ability to work independently.
·       Highly organized and the ability to multi-task
·       Familiar with a wide range of design software programs such as: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Quark Express
·       Have working knowledge in sound and visual applications such as: Adobe Audition, FL Studio, Adobe After Effects, and Adobe Premier Pro.
