POST: Assistant Veterinary Officer- 1 Position
GRADE : K/M9
QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must be in possession of a Diploma in Veterinary Science OR in Animal Health obtained from accredited institutions
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct animal health and production activities in Extension Planning Areas (EPAs.)
- Conduct animal disease investigation, treatments and vaccinations for various livestock species.
- Prepare and implementing annual work plans and their activities.
- Conduct meat inspection in designated areas and compile reports on slaughter places.
- Conduct ticks and tick control measures in the area.
- Report timely on suspected notifiable disease outbreaks in the area.
- Encourage formation of Livestock Development Committees (LDCs) and Milk Bulking Groups.
- Conduct on Farm Demonstrations (OFDs).
- Recruit farmers for Training at Day training centres/ Rural Training Centre (DTC/RTC) to deliver technical messages on livestock development.
- Constant identify farmers’ problems and give timely technical advice on animal health and production.
- Attend EPA fortnightly meetings for the delivery of messages pertaining to animal health and production.
- Conduct stock census within the work station. xiii. Constant recording livestock data.
- Advise farmers’ selection and breeding programs.
