CQC makes investments in carbon reduction and removal programs, which provide clean and efficient energy appliances, small-scale agriculture and forestry services to the rural poor. CQC’s carbon programs have improved the lives of over 20 million people in Africa, India, Southeast Asia and Central America. Our ambition is to reach over 175 million people by 2035. CQC is headquartered in Washington DC, USA, with subsidiaries in Malawi, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Cambodia and Australia.
Currently, CQC is expanding its activities to cover most of the districts in the southern region while maintain sustainability of the existing projects in the central and part of the southern region. The company is therefore inviting applications from suitably qualifying Malawians to fill in the following position:
ASSISTANT OPERATIONS MANAGER (1)
Overall responsibility for support the Operations Manager in implementation of climate change mitigation program strategies through creation, adaption and sharing of valuable knowledge to the company structure in the course of providing cleaner cooking technologies through implementation of the Rocket Cook Stove and Tetracarbon Projects in several Districts in Malawi and not limited to the following;
  • Plan, organize, direct, and controlling of field activities and submission of report.
  • Conducting recognizance surveys and project sites segmentation.
  • Liaise and work with local government structures in planning, and implementation of C Quest Capital Cook Stove and Tetracarbon projects.
  • Facilitate Identification of Field coordinators/community volunteers.
  • Sensitize the Field team and the community on climate change and associated effects on human socio-economic status and alternative measures to address climate change and associated impacts.
  • Provide capacity building to Zone Managers, Field coordinators, community volunteers and local leaders.
  • Facilitate stove installation and usage, bamboo growing, use of half wall kitchens and other complementary interventions through development of sound model villages.
  • Ensure compliance of standard operating procedures by all field team to meet quality standards and reduce operation cost.
  • Design and pass on appropriate knowledge diffusion methods on high efficiency cook stove, tetracarbon and other related technologies to reduce complexity and increase adoption rate.
  • Conduct periodic monitoring and evaluation of project activities.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Natural Resources Management, Environment, Agriculture, Community Development, Social work, and any other relevant field.
  • Demonstrate maturity and ability of a team leader, with high degree of explicit and tacit knowledge and understanding challenges associated with implementation of cleaner cooking technologies.
  • Demonstrable experience in extension work and community work, with strict adherence to set procedures.
  • Ability to use MS Office including word, excel, and Teams.
  • Ability to coordinate a large group of field teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and analytical/problem-solving abilities, including ability to manage conflicts amicably.
  • Able to work and fit in different cultural environment and odd hours.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Chichewa
  • Skills and experience in facilitating trainings at both high level and community level.
