VACANCY

The Embassy of Japan in Malawi has a vacancy for 1 (One) Assistant for Political, Culture, and Public Relations Section.

1. Vacant Position

  • Title: Assistant for Political, Culture and Public Relations section
  • Number of vacancy: 1 (One)
  • Contract period: One year
  • It is renewable annually if the performance assessment is satisfactory. Signing of the contract is subject to 3 (Three) month probationary period.
  • Location: Embassy of Japan in Malawi (Plot No. 14/191, Petroda Glass House, P.O. 30780, Lilongwe 3, Malawi)
  • Salary, bonus and allowance will be determined according to the skills and experiences of the successful candidate.
  • Full-time (38 hours 45 minutes/week).
  • The position will require occasional overtime work (including evenings, weekends and/or holidays).
  • Working Hours: Mon – Fri: 8:00 to 17:00 (Lunch break: 12:00 to 13:15)
  • Holidays: Malawian holidays and selected Japanese national holidays.
  • Annual leave: Provided according to the number of years of service.

2. Job Description

  • Drafting speech, note verbale, communication materials such as press release and articles.
  • Creating and updating Embassy’s homepage and social media accounts (FB and X).
  • Correcting and analyzing information about domestic and foreign affairs
  • Supporting Embassy’s cultural events
  • Maintaining and expanding strong working relationships with governmental entities, media organizations, educational institutions, cultural bodies, and other key stakeholders of the section
  • Other administrative and logistical work assigned by the Chief of the Section

3. Qualification

  • Must be able to legally work in Malawi
  • Must hold an undergraduate degree.
  • Native-level English skills (orally and written)
  • Knowledge of Japan, Japanese language and culture will be highly considered.
  • Excellent social media management skills
  • Basic computer skills for the Microsoft Office
  • Inter-cultural adaptation ability, high sense of responsibility, and communication skills
  • Being sociable and a good team player
