Assistant Environmental Health Officer at Mwanza District Council

Local Government Service Commission is inviting applications from suitably qualified Malawian candidates to fill the following vacant posts existing at Mwanza District Council

Post: Assistant Environmental Health Officer
Grade: K/M8
Location: Mwanza District Council

The post holder will be responsible to the Secretary for Health through Senior Assistant Environmental Health Officer (STO).

Duties:

1. Plans Environmental Health activities in an area.
2. Inspects business and food premises to assess health risks
3. Inspect institutions such as hospitals, schools, prisons, orphanages, nurseries, etc
4. Collects water and food samples for Bacteriological examination and chemical analysis.
5. Assist in protection of wells and springs and maintenance of  water points
6. Conduct vector and vermin control activities in an area
7. Collects and analyses Environmental Health data in an area
8. Organizes and conducts training for Environmental Health Personnel and VHCs in an area.
9. Supervises Environmental staff in area
10. Conducts disease investigation and institutes control measures in an area
11. Inspect meat, food and sanitary facility
12. Repairs and maintains health institutions
13. Enforcement Environmental Health Law.
14. Recording data in relevant registers and instruments following HIMS guidelines.
15. Routinely monitor the Environmental Health services and take necessary actions to improve the Environmental Health services quality and overall health status of the people.
16. Any other duties deemed reasonable for the post.

Qualifications:

• Applicants must be in possession of a Diploma in Environmental Health.
• Must be registered with Medical Council of Malawi
