Assistant Environmental Health Officer

Grade: HK/M 9
Number of Posts: 1
Location: Mulanje District Council.

Duties and Responsibilities.

Qualifications:

Diploma in Public Health or fours (4) years’ experience at Environmental Health Assistant (L) level with training in Environmental Health.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The post holder will be responsible to the Secretary for Health and Population through Senior Assistant Environmental Health Officer (J)

For the following duties:

1. Plans environmental health activities in an area
2. Inspects business and food premises to assess health risks
3. Inspects institutions such as hospitals, schools, prisons, orphanages, nurseries etc
4. Collects water and food samples for bacteriological examinations and chemical analysis
5. Assist in protection of wells and springs and maintenance of water points
6. Conducts vector and vermin control activities in an area
7. Collects and analyses environmental health data in an area
8. Organizes and conducts training for environmental health personnel and VHCs in an area.

Qualifications

Applicants should possess a Diploma in Public Health or Diploma in Environmental Health accredited institutions and be registered with Medical Council of Malawi.
