The Malawi Electoral Commission, “the Commission”, is a body corporate created under Section 75(1) of the Constitution, to supervise, direct and preside over the conduct of all elections in Malawi.

In accordance with Section 13 of the Malawi Electoral Commission Act, the Commission seeks to appoint a suitably qualified person with relevant experience to fill the following vacant position within its secretariat.

Job Title: Assistant Civic and Voter Education Officer
Number Required : 4
Grade: C7
Responsible to: Director of Civic and Voter Education
Location : Head Office and Regional Offices
Purpose: To raise CVE awareness to ensure that the electorate in the constituency are adequately motivated and informed

Key duties & responsibilities

  • Implementing the C & VE strategies and programs.
  • Participating in the development, review and implementation of C & VE programs.
  • participating in the development and delivery of programmes on civic and voter education.
  • Implementing programmes and delivery of materials for use in CVE.
  • Assisting in liaising with stakeholders in C &VE at regional level.
  • Suggesting and initiate to the C & VEO other innovative and effective ways of conducting C & VE.
  • Training C & VE stakeholders on the core activities of the C & VE programmes.
  • Ensuring safe custody of C & VE materials at the Region.
  • Archiving documentation of C&VE materials
  • Assisting in preparation of departmental Elections Budgets
  • Sensitizing voters on electoral process to promote free, fair and credible elections.
  • Conducting public meetings with traditional/ leaders and other stakeholders.
  • Distributing of C&VE materials at regional level
  • Monitoring and evaluating on the impact and effectiveness of C&VE Strategies,  Programmes and materials
  • Any other duties assigned from time to time.

Qualifications

Diploma in Education

Age

Between 21 to 40 years

  • Interpersonal communication

  • Report writing and presentation
  • Computer skills
  • Must demonstrate impartiality at all times
