Assistant Agriculture Extension Development Officer at Mwanza District Council

Local Government Service Commission is inviting applications from suitably qualified Malawian candidates to fill the following vacant posts existing at Mwanza District Council

Post: Assistant Agriculture Extension Development Officer
Grade: K/M8
Location: Mwanza District Council

Duties:

1. Interpret agricultural development and agricultural extension policies to farmers in a section;
2. Formulate strategies for implementing agricultural development programmes, projects and activities in liaison with local leaders and other stakeholders in a section;
3. Facilitate formation of farmer clubs, associations and cooperatives in a section;
4. Provide technical support to farmer based organizations in management of farmer organizations through organized training and coaching;
5. Conduct farmer training needs assessment in a section;
6. Facilitate recruitment of lead farmers for specific training organized outside the section;
7. Conduct agricultural production estimates survey in a section;
8. In liaison with stakeholders formulate strategies for achieving food security in a section;
9. Organize, plan and implement on farm demonstrations on various topics in a section;
10. Manage research trials in a section;
11. Facilitate implementation of mobile van campaigns in a section;
12. Updating farming household data in a section on a yearly basis;
13. Prepare and submit reports to the Agricultural Extension Development Officer (AEDO) periodically;
14. Attend fortnightly training sessions organized by the EPA;
15. Maintain relevant data bank for all agricultural enterprises in a section;
16. Provide training services to farmers and stakeholders as per demand and requirement in a section;
17. Organize and implement field days and tours to successful demonstration sites in a section;
18. Any other duties as assigned by the Agricultural Extension Development Officer (AEDO).

Qualifications:

Applicants must be holders of Diploma in either Agriculture, Irrigation.
