
NGO Regulatory Authority (NGORA)
The Non-Governmental Organizations Regulatory Authority (NGORA) is a statutory Corporation mandated to register and regulate operations of Non-Governmental organizations in Malawi. To deliver on its core mandate, the institution is now looking for dynamic and well versed individuals to fill the following seven (7) middle level staff posts:
JOB TITLE: ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT (1)
Grade: NG 7
Location: Head Office
Directorate: Corporate3 Services
Reporting to: Accountant
Supervision to: None
Job Purpose
To undertake routine clerical and accounting tasks. Preparing budgets, 6. Schedule meetings and logistical arrangements for officers (provide You can also apply via email at maintaining reports, and completing basic bookkeeping and accounting duties for the company.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Preparing customer invoices promptly and ensuring the invoice is reconciled to the NGO financial statements according to the NGO fee regulations
2. Prepare receipts on a timely by the NGO Finance policy and procedures manual
3. Maintenance of all receivable records and books of accounts in conformity with sound financial management and accounting principles and practices
4. Liaise with banks on unallocated bank transfers/deposits every week;
5. Reconciling receivables accounting documents such as invoices, credit notes, and proof of bank transfer/deposits;
6. Maintaining a record of transactions of other funds received, Government subvention, and different donors;
7. Following up NGOs with long outstanding fees invoices regularly and ensuring that they pay their dues according to the NGO Fees Regulation;
8. Assist Accountant with proper tax deduction on suppliers’ payment
9. Ensure supplier’s WHT are paid on time and share WHT copies with suppliers in time;
10. Maintenance of imprest petty cash system
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma in Accountancy from a recognized university
- Sound planning and coordination skills
- Good communication skills
- Ability to pay attention to detail.
- Excellent analytical skills
