Role & Responsibilities

Client’s accounting records
•Ensure client’s accounting records are up to date.
•Prepare cash books and bank reconciliations by the due date.
•Ensure payments are properly authorized and cheques written correctly.
•Prepare payments vouchers and ensure all details properly written.
•Prepare clients salaries (including pay slips) by the due date.
•File clients documents in relevant files
•Prepare clients financial statements/management accounts by the due date.

Taxation
•Ensure computation of assessments are accurate.
•Compute capital allowances in line with the Taxation ACT.
•Prepare Income tax returns and submit to MRA by the due date.
•Agree MRA assessments to tax computations and reconcile the differences if any.
•Prepare and submit clients VAT returns by the due date.
•Prepare and submit clients’ Pay As You Earn returns  by the due date.
•Prepare and submit clients’ Withholding Tax returns by the due date.
•Ensure the assessments are received from MRA, if not, followed up.
•Ensure the clients are reminded of remittance of relevant returns and taxes on due dates.

Secretarial
•Ensure the annual returns are prepared and submitted to the Registrar of Companies in a timely manner.
•Ensure the company search is carried out properly at the Registrar of Companies.
•Ensure the secretarial documents are filed in relevant clients files.
•Preparation of accurate and timely shareholders’ and board minutes.
•Maintenance of statutory registers e.g. shareholders, directors, share allotments, etc.

Communication
•Ensure that the Finance in Charge/Audit Manager/Partner is informed on a regular basis on the work progress and relevant issues in respect of time constraints.
•Ensure manager’s/accountant queries are cleared promptly.
•Seen by the client to provide a quality and timely service.

Any other duties
•Any other work as might be assigned by Partners/Director/Managers

Education
Degree in Accounting or pursuing the final level of ACCA or ICAM.

Experience
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar post.
