Art studio Attendant (UM 14) (1 position)
Qualifications and Attributes
Applicants must be those with experience in the art, ceramics, and pottery industries, including art galleries. Holders of a minimum of Junior Certificate of Education (JCE), plus experience in painting and drawing, sculpture, or ceramics production, processes and entrepreneurship at a recognized institution will have an added advantage. Knowledge of working with paints, crafts, pottery products, on the potter’s wheel, in electric kilns, and in raw material processing is desirable.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Art Studio Attendant’s duties include the following:

General cleaning and organization of the ceramic and art studios

Collection and storage of waste clay materials, feldspar and silica sand, among other raw materials

Storage and display of student and staff artworks
-
Maintaining studio hygiene at all times

Ensuring security of all studio products and spaces

Controlling student work schedules and ensuring adequate production of raw materials under the supervision of the Technician and Ceramic Assistants

Support in making of moulds, operating carving tools, making vases, and other decorative items
-
Arrange artworks for exhibitions in support of students and staff
-
Organize shelves, drawers, studio cabinets, and galleries for orderly storage and displays of artworks
-
Mobilize and convey items for firing at the kilns when required
-
Any other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor and course lecturers from time to time.
