WHO WE ARE:

Inter Aide is an association specialized in the implementation of rural development programs.
In 2023, Inter Aide is running 51 programs in seven countries (Ethiopia, Guinea, Haiti, Malawi,
Madagascar, Mozambique and Sierra Leone). In Malawi, Inter Aide has been working with
particularly poor rural communities since 1992. The association is present in 10 of the country’s
28 districts in the Central and Southern regions, with interventions around Health, Water points
Maintenance and Agricultural development. Inter Aide is looking for qualified candidates to fill
two vacant positions based in Lilongwe (Malawi) with occasional travels to rural areas.

AGRICULTURAL DEVELOPMENT TECHNICAL ASSISTANT

THE MISSION

The main responsibilities will be to build the capacity of local program teams in coordinating,
developing and evaluating activities implemented with the farmers’ groups under the program.

In this role, he / she will be responsible for:

  • Defining strategic orientation of the program and geographical deployment (identification of future intervention zones, possible relocation of offices).
  • ensuring the coherence and relevance of the activities implemented (in response to the needs);
  • ensuring the quality of technical training offered to farmers and the team;
  • ensuring compliance with the objective of supporting the most disadvantaged farmers;
  • supervising, evaluating and strengthening the local team: coordinators, field workers, support and administrative team;
  • monitoring and evaluating the impact of the program and carrying out studies;
  • developing collaboration with the authorities and other local players;
  • reporting to the headquarters, based in France, through the Head of Sector and the Administrative and Financial Manager (monthly accounts and regular activity reports);
  • travel frequently to villages in the intervention zone, and occasionally to other regions of the country (exchange visits, prospecting).

REQUIRED PROFILE

  • Agricultural engineering degree, Master degree or equivalent (specialization in agricultural
    development).
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in setting up and monitoring support-advisory systems
    in rural areas, as well as in team management
  • Good listening and communication skills,
  • Autonomous, dynamic and adaptable.
  • Fluent in English (written/oral). Although not compulsory, French is an added advantage.
