With its operations in both Lilongwe and Mzuzu, St John of God Malawi is a key provider of tertiary and community based mental health promotion and care; early intervention services for children with both intellectual and physical disability; vocational training for orphans & vulnerable youth including those with disability; health care and other services for older persons; psychosocial counselling, stress and addiction management services; rehabilitation of street children; self-help group approach for women empowerment and tertiary level training in Psychiatric Nursing, Clinical Medicine- Psychiatry & Mental Health, Psychosocial Counselling and General Nursing

 

 

If you have a minimum of three years experience in advocacy and communication in the development sector together with a working knowledge of development communication, sponsorship and resource mobilization then you might wish to be considered. A minimum Bachelor’s Degree level qualification in Mass Communication, social Science Journalism, Development studies or related area is required. High-level computer literacy and prior experience/knowledge in using Photoshop, video editing tools, WordPress and other communications/digital suites will be advantageous.

The person selected will have dual reporting relationship & externally to the Head of Program Partnerships SJOG Foundation in Ireland and locally to the Director of Finance & Resource Mobilization. He/she will be responsible for supporting the fundraising teams in Ireland, Netherlands and the United Kingdom to implement their fundraising plans for Malawi. Another key part of the role will be to increase the awareness and reach of St John of God Malawi’s work across all its catchment districts and to partners in Malawi and beyond by taking a leading role in developing and supporting communication and advocacy strategies, plans and knowledge of its projects and programs.

The position is based at our Lilongwe- Laurence Kearns Centre in Area 43 with frequent travel to our Mzuzu office and its program catchment areas across Northern Malawi. The employer offers an attractive and progressive remuneration with free medical and contributory pension scheme.
