National Planning Commission

INTRODUCTION

The National Planning Commission (NPC) is an autonomous public institution that was created through an Act of Parliament in 2017 to coordinate the formulation of long and medium-term national development plans and oversee their implementation. NPC has since then coordinated the successful formulation of the Malawi 2063 national vision and the Malawi 2063 First 10-Year Implementation Plan (MIP-1), among other plans, whose implementation it is currently overseeing.

To fulfill its mandate effectively and efficiently, an opportunity has risen within the institution to fill the position of Administrative Officer at NPC in Lilongwe.

This is a highly demanding position that require persons who have demonstrable capacities and qualifications towards making the Commission a center of excellence in medium and long-term national development planning and implementation oversight. More importantly, the Commission seeks professionals that are motivated and enthusiastic about driving the new development narrative of ‘wealth creation for all’.

The following are the required personnel and work-related traits for the positions:

Administrative Officer – Grade NP5

Reporting to: Director of Finance and Administration

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Manage fleet of vehicles that includes arranging for repairs and insurance.
  2. Provide logistical support to all directorates and sections.
  3. Manage offices and equipment by ensuring that they are in working condition at all times.
  4. Implement and enforce the Commission’s policies and procedures, ensuring they are communicated effectively to staff.
  5. Establish and maintain sound administrative and management systems including record keeping, filing systems, and office supply management.
  6. Ensure the availability of requisite resources and facilities to all directorates and sections of the Commission at all times.
  7. Assist with budget preparation and monitoring, including tracking expenses and preparing reports of the Administration Section
  8. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at the workplace, including conducting risk assessments and implementing appropriate measures.
  9. Any other duties assigned by the supervisor or management.

Minimum Academic and Professional Qualifications/Experience

  • A minimum of Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration, Business Administration or and other relevant discipline.
  • They should have at least 5 years relevant post qualification experience of administration in a public or private institution.
