About the Role

Tazaya Research Finance & Management Consultancy (TRFMC) is seeking a qualified and motivated Accounts Assistant to join our team in Balaka on a 2-month full-time contract. The successful candidate will support the finance department in day-to-day accounting and administrative tasks, helping to ensure the smooth and compliant running of our financial operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily financial operations, including bookkeeping and cash flow monitoring.

  • Process invoices, payments, and receipts, ensuring accurate record-keeping.

  • Support the preparation and review of monthly management accounts and financial reports.

  • Perform bank reconciliations and assist in timely financial reporting.

  • Help prepare documentation for audits and liaise with external auditors as required.

  • Support the implementation of internal financial controls and policies.

  • Assist with training and capacity building for staff on basic finance processes.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and internal policies.

  • Provide general administrative and clerical support to the finance team.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • At least 1 year of relevant experience in accounting or finance support.

  • Basic understanding of bookkeeping, internal controls, and financial policies.

  • Familiarity with tax laws is an added advantage.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (quick books) is desirable.

  • High level of integrity and attention to detail.
