National Construction Industry Council

The National Construction Industry Council (NCIC) was created by the Malawi Government
through an Act of Parliament (Cap 53:05) of the Laws of Malawi to regulate, promote and develop
the construction industry in Malawi.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the following vacant positions:

(A) ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT (GRADE 7)

Tenable at the Regional Office (North) based in Mzuzu, the position is on permanent and pensionable terms. Under the supervision of the Senior Industry Liaison Officer and reporting to the Financial Accountant, the requirements for the position are as stipulated below:

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES

  • Be aged 25 years and above;
  • Diploma in Accounting;
  • Should have a minimum of three years’ work experience in a related field;
  • Should have Diplomate Membership with ICAM;
  • Should have self-drive, excellent interpersonal and communication skills and team working spirit;
  • Should have excellent planning and prioritization skills;
  • Should be able to work odd hours and during weekends.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Working in the Regional offices the duties and responsibilities shall include but not limited to the following:

  • Raising receipts for all payments received;
  • Banking cash/cheques on daily basis;
  • Reconciliation on 1 and 2 above and submitting the same to the Assistant Financial Accountant on daily basis;
  • Maintaining petty cash and fuel floats;
  • Collecting Construction Works Certificates from Consultants and/or Developers in the region;
  • Following up on Construction Levy payments;
  • Issuing of the Construction Levy Withholding Certificate;
  • Maintenance of regional fixed asset register and office inventory and physically checking their existence;
  • Filing all receipts and all necessary documents in an orderly manner;
  • Collecting training fees, subscription fees, upgrading fees and all other revenue streams;
  • Any other related duties as assigned from time to time.
