Wealthnet Finance Public Limited Company is registered and regulated by the Reserve Bank of Malawi as a Deposit Taking Microfinance Institution. The company owns a digital banking and payment platform called KakuPay Smart Money. In short, the company does banking and mobile money business. The company was established to profitably support Malawians build wealth and be financially free and self-reliant. Through its Kakupay Smart Money platform, Wealthnet is implementing an Electronic Payment Services Climate Smart Enhanced Public Works Programme (CSPWP) and Social Cash Transfer Programme (SCTP) in Mzimba, Mwanza, Neno and Zomba Districts. The institution is looking for visionary, innovative and strong candidates to take on the positions listed as follow;

ACCOUNTANTS (2)

Reporting to: Chief Finance Officer

The Accountants have a primary responsibility of formulating strategies for short-term and long-term plans as well as analyzing market trends on changes in financial regulations and legislations in the country especially those of Reserve Bank of Malawi as well as company management financial reporting, creating and managing budgets and monitoring all financial systems; liaising with auditors to ensure annual auditing is carried out, conducting reviews and evaluations for cost-reduction in the daily operations of the company.

Major Tasks and Responsibilities;

  • Reviewing supporting documents, authorization for all payments before capture into financial system
  • Verify payments and deposits made through the company’s accounts and coordinate with the banks
  • Ensure financial transactions are reviewed and posted in the financial system
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Timely reconciliation of SCT and SCEPWP transactions.
  • Timely preparations of regulatory reports
  • Support in quick resolution of SCT and audit queries
  • Management of beneficiary payroll for SCT and normal accounting
  • Assist with daily cash and bank transaction – Bank balances and cash reports
  • Cash and bank accounting – daily booking of entries into the system
  • Review payments and security deposits
  • Account receivable accounting
  • Customer general ledger accounts
  • Daily trust reconciliation
  • Assist with revenue accounting
  • Assist analysis of operating expenses
  • Assists accounts payable accounting
  • Assist timely payments to suppliers and other payments
  • Ensure supplier reconciliation and confirmation process
  • Prepare Management accounts
  • Prepare requisite reports under SCT program

Qualification, Experience and Skills;

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy, or qualification or the Applied Knowledge Level of ACCA.
  • Should be a member of ICAM
  • Professional qualification (such as CPA, ACCA, CIMA), will be an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of local and international accounting practices and relevant laws is a plus.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in financial management.
  • Must be a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Malawi and the Malawi Accountants Board and in Good Standing.
