VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

POSITION: ACCOUNTANT (2)

LOCATION: LILONGWE

Green Villages, a local real estate company, that was established to complement Malawi Government’s efforts in providing well-planned land for housing development to urban dwelling Malawians. The company specializes in building new sustainable urban communities at a large scale. The company focuses on developing well-planned, serviced and functional urban communities for the middle- and high-income household.

 

Green Villages is inviting applications from all suitable candidates to fill in vacant posts of Green Villages Accountant who will be responsible for the following duties:

  1. Manage the day-to-day finances of Green Villages
  2. Enter all transactions and approving payment requests and cheques/transfers by correct recording and posting of all transactions
  3. Run the payroll and deductions. Ensure payroll is correctly prepared on time and all deductions are made as required and PAYE is remitted on time to MRA
  4. Prepare and monitor the implementation of the budget, identifying variances with explanations and recommendations as necessary and reporting monthly to the Director of Finance (DF) and Chief Executive Officer
  5. Manage the cash flow to ensure necessary availability of funds to meet budgeted activity and operational requirements
  6. Work closely with the Director of Finance on budgeting
  7. Monitor compliance with procurement guidelines
  8. Ensure the correct operation of the Accounting System.
  9. Reconcile financial records with monthly bank statements
  10. Support auditors with information and necessary documentation that may be required during an audit visit
  11. Compile monthly, quarterly and end of year financial report in accordance with international standards of accounting.
  12. Recommend accounting procedures to Green Villages management as per international accounting standards
  13. Any other work as assigned from time to time

 

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  1. At least 3-5 years’ experience
  2. Degree in Accounting
  3. Familiarity with advanced formulas in MS, Quick book, Excel Ability to accurately process numerical data.
  4. Excellent analytical skills along with the ability to create and present detailed reports
  5. High integrity & trust worth
  6. Hard working and result oriented
  7. Excellent communication skills.
