Accountant at Nyasa Tobacco Buying Limited

Nyasa Tobacco Buying Limited is a leading tobacco exporter in Malawi. We are looking for a qualified and detail-oriented Accountant to join our finance team and contribute to the effective management of our financial operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including the trial balance, ledgers and financialstatements
• Manage accounts payable and receivable processes
• Monitor budgets and assist in budget preparation and control
• Ensure timely submission of statutory returns such as VAT, PAYE, and pensions
• Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies
• Support audits by preparing required documentation and responding to auditor queries
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting
• Maintain compliance with internal financial policies and external regulatory requirements
• Work closely with the Finance Manager to support daily transactions managment

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field from an accredited institution
• At least 3 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
• Must be a member of a recognized professional accounting body (e.g., ICAM, ACCA, CIMA)
• Solid knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and tax compliance
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAGE & QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and analytical skills High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information
• Excellent organizational and time management abilities
