Minet Malawi Insurance Brokers Limited invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the above vacancy tenable at our Head Office in Blantyre. The incumbent retires on 31st December 2022.
The post has reporting function to General Manager. The successful individual will be expected to make a significant contribution in the delivery of quality services to our clients.
Role Description
The successful candidate will be fully responsible for Minet Malawi’s employee benefits business which contributes significantly to the business of the company.
Reporting to General Manager, the Head of Business Unit will be responsible for both broking administration and advisory aspects of the business and will be expected to grow the business.
Key Performance Areas
(i) Team Supervision
To ensure that client managers service and manage clients accounts properly including arranging appropriate insurance covers, reply to correspondences, inter alia, within agreed timeframes.
(ii) Service Plan Supervision
To ensure appropriate usage of Minet approaches to deliver clients results; ensure good quality for deliverables with high level of accuracy
(iii) Claim Processing
To help in the processing of claims and attend to any queries that may arise therefrom
(iv) Grow Business Portfolios
To acquire new businesses and ensure that same is protected
(v) Credit Control Management
To help implement credit control measures including collection of pension contributions and group life assurance premium as laid down by relevant statutes and regulatory directives
(vi) To undertake any other duties as delegated by management from time to time
Minimum Qualifications:
- First Degree from local university accredited by National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) or reputable foreign university and
- Associateship of The Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII), or equivalent insurance examining body
Other Criteria and Competencies
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Good numerical and analytical skills
- Ten-year experience in employee benefits management and life insurance broking of which at least five at senior management position
- Computer literate especially in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Problem solving capabilities linked with exceptional analytical and communication skills
- Honesty and integrity
- Sound technical understanding of pensions law and practice in Malawi
- Self-starter with proven ability to motivate a team
- Ability to work under pressure and adherence to deadline
Salary payable is negotiable and commensurate with one’s qualifications and experience.
