FPAM compliments the government of Malawi in improving the health status of all people in Malawi. FPAM’s vision is a Malawian society with access to quality and comprehensive sexual and reproductive health services and information.

FPAM is looking for suitably qualified candidates to fill the above vacant position.

Reports to : Finance Manager.

 

 

Job Role

The Project Accountant’s responsibility is to process all accounting transactions and to provide financial support to projects activities as assigned by the Finance Manager.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit timely, accurate and complete grants financial reports to internal and external users/donors.
  • Update financial data in databases to ensure that information will be accurate and immediately available when needed.
  • Prepare analysis of grant expenditure for management action to help in monitoring the burn rate of various grants.
  • Ensure grants/projects reports are discussed with the project team within the required time schedule.
  • Ensure that projects annual budgets are posted in Sage Evolution ERP.
  • Prepare and submit accurate funding requests to donors on a timely basis.
  • Support and coordinate grants end closure processes.
  • Ensure that all accounting documents are filed on a timely basis and proper accounting records are maintained and are compatible with standard accounting practice.
  • Assist the Finance Manager in budget development, cash flow forecasting and expenditure tracking.
  • Monitor Project expenses against the approved budget.
  • Ensure adherence to approved FPAM financial policies and procedures, as well as donor requirements.
  • Work on other assignments as may be assignee by the Finance Manager from time to time.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • 3 to 5 years experience of progressively responsible experience in providing financial management support, financial auditing and reporting in local or international NGO.
  • University Degree in Accounting, Financial Management and or minimum accounting level 2 accreditation is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and strong interpersonal skills is a plus.
  • High level knowledge of Sage Evolution ERP accounting package; Microsoft Office (particularly word and excel).
  • Experience of maintaining spreadsheets.
