The Lilongwe Water Board is a Statutory Corporation established in 1947 and re-constituted under the Water Works Act (Cap 72). It is responsible for the provision of water supply services to the City of Lilongwe and other surrounding areas designated as its supply area. The Board is inviting applications from suitably
qualified candidates of Malawian origin to fill the vacant positions that exist within the Board.

MOTOR VEHICLE WORKSHOP SUPERVISOR (RE-ADVERTISED)
Reporting to the Fleet management Officer, the Motor Vehicle Workshop Supervisor will be responsible for the following:

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Monitoring implementation of repair and maintenance policies, procedures and programs for the Board’s fleet
  2. Planning, Organizing, controlling and coordinating fleet maintenance services
  3. Preparing and managing workshop budget
  4. Preparing schedules for planned maintenance repairs and allocating jobs to staff under his/her charge
  5. Controlling and maintaining workshop equipment
  6. Inspect, diagnose and open job card for repairs
  7. Requisitioning and providing specifications for the procurement of vehicle spare parts and materials
  8. Maintaining an up-to-date record of fleet maintenance records
  9. Preparing planned fleet preventive maintenance schedules and recommending for dealer service for complex vehicle faults
  10. Analyzing vehicle job cards records to verify spare parts utilization
  11. Assess and or test drive vehicles to identify faults or to ascertain whether repairs done are effective
  12. Supervising and appraising those below him/her
  13. Servicing vehicle for certification processes
  14. Preparing progress reports
  15. Implementing Capacity development of apprentices
  16. Institute Occupational Health and Safety measures in the workshop
  17. Sourcing quotations for accident repair work
  18. Initiating vehicle refurbishing programme
  19. Demonstrating outstanding commitment to service delivery programs of the Board by personally identifying and reporting water bursts/leakages to customer care Division of which verifiable repair records shall be used during performance appraisal as one of the components to be assessed for time.

Minimum Qualification and Work Experience
A minimum of a Malawi TEVET Certificate in Automobile Mechanics Level 4 or a Diploma/ Grade 1 City and Guilds Certificate in Motor VehicleMechanics plus four (4) years’ experience at Senior Head Mechanic level.
