DVV International is the Institute for International Cooperation of the Deutscher Volkshoch-schul-Verbande.V. (DVV), the German Adult Education Association and a leading professional organization in the field of adult education and development cooperation. Together with our partner, the Ministry of Gender, Community Development and Social Welfare (MOGCDSW) and other stakeholders in the public sector and the civil society, we work towards an adequately resourced, professionally managed adult education system across different sectors. This system should provide good quality services to youth and adults in a demand- driven manner. To mobilize all potential resources and partners, we plan to reinforce our team with an experienced and creative colleague, who can think “outside the box” to join us as Programme Officer.

 

 

Key Requirements (obligatory)

  • A relevant degree in Adult Education, Education Planning, TVET or an education related field, Le., from social sciences, community development, agricultural extension or similar with a proven link to education;
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of practical work experience in one of the fields cited;
  • A proven track record on mobilization of resources and knowledge of a network of relations in areas relevant for adult and non-formal education and training;
  • Experience in multi-sector and multi-stakeholder cooperation; in urban and in rural areas:
  • Command of ICT-tools to handle data banks;
  • Knowledge of the main debates in the international, continental and national discourse as for integrated functional adult education:
  • Familiarity with the guiding policies, strategies, approaches, governance structures, governmental and non-governmental stakeholders and actors in the ALE sector in the country;
  • Good communication, and facilitation skills;

Additional Skills

  • Practical exposure to the management of educational interventions geared towards gainful occupations, or of adult education-related projects or programs (development of micro and small businesses, on- formal skills training, linking to micro-finance);
  • Track record of work experience in (functional) literacy (with various approaches), incl. post literacy and innovative approaches to support literate environments.

We offer a full-time assignment of one year with the possibility of extension. Duty station is Lilongwe with eventual travel to districts. Applications have to be submitted by Wednesday, 18 January, 2023.
