We are in the process of strengthening our Management Team and as a result we are seeking the services of a suitably qualified person to fill the position of Retail Sales Manager tenable at our Head Office in Lilongwe.

 

THE PERSON

WEMAS seeks to recruit a dynamic and results-oriented sales professional with experience in leading the retail sales function of a dynamic and innovative company. The Retail Sales Manager will be reporting to the Chief Operations Officer.

We welcome candidates who have been tried in the field of sales and have a good experience in supervising retail sales staff. We are looking for an individual with whom we can build a strong and lasting relationship, a person who can explore innovative ways of growing the retail business of the Company. The person MUST have a high level of integrity and MUST demonstrate a high level of dedication to work.

 

ROLE PURPOSE

The Retail Sales Manager will be responsible for driving sales through our dynamic Sales Team located at our Branches.  The Retail Sales Manager will be responsible for the implementation of the Retail Marketing Strategy. The Retail Sales Manager will be a member of the Management Team of WEMAS, participates in making decisions on strategic issues and will be expected to work with the Management Team members to ensure that the WEMAS’ overall business objectives are fully met.

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Provide the leadership, management and vision necessary to ensure that the Retail Sales Business Unit has a proper sales strategy in place to effectively grow the retail business of the Company.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Operations Officer in the marketing strategy of the Retail Business. S/he ensures that the process of retail customer acquisition is anchored on delivering consistent growth.
  • Recruit, supervise, train and mentor an ever growing team of Retail Sales Officers throughout the country.
  • Develop strategies to target new opportunities and successfully implement these strategies for the promotion and growth of retail business;
  • Maintain an ongoing review of products, exploiting opportunities for re-engineering, cost and effort optimization, increased visibility, reduced risk and continued publicity.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Qualification
  • University degree in Marketing or Business Administration is a key requirement;
  • Those with Professional Qualifications in marketing will be considered favorably.

 

  • Experience
  • Demonstrated experience with at least 5 years’ relevant experience in a highly respected company;
  • MUST have a strong background in managing the sales of retail business in insurance or any financial service.

 

  • Knowledge and Skills
  • Must be a recognized leader, who is dynamic, proactive and decisive. S/he adapts well to and initiates change, and seeks ways to achieve measurable results against goals;
  • Strong marketing background with previous experience in a retail marketing management role in an innovative financial services company;
  • High credibility and strong reputation as a marketer;
  • Ability to review and critically analyze substantial amounts of information and bring to bear exceptional decision making skills;
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;
  • A demonstrable thinker with a focus on effective implementation;
  • May be required to work long hours;
  • Must be able to build lasting relationships with relevant stakeholders;
