Background

The Lilongwe Golf Club (LGC) is Malawi’s leading Golf Club and the only 18 holes Championship Golf
Course in the country.

LGC has undertaken a number of Rehabilitative as well as new construction projects in order to Upgrade and Modernize the structures at the Club. As such, a need has arisen for the Club to hire a Projects Officer to oversee the projects on 3 years fixed contract renewable on satisfactory performance.

Job Brief

We are looking for a competent Project Officer to be responsible for all engineering and technical
disciplines for the Building Projects being undertaken by Lilongwe Golf Club.

Project Officer responsibilities will include:

  • The Projects Officer will schedule, plan, forecast, resource and manage all the technical activities aiming at assuring project accuracy and quality from conception to completion.
  • Prepare monthly reports to management, attend site meetings and represent the LGC on
    engineering matters.
  • Preparing, scheduling, coordinating and monitoring the assigned engineering projects.
  • Ensuring designated works are completed correctly and promptly.
  • Alert management on impending delays, increase in costs, possible risks and mitigate
    measures.
  • Advise management and mitigate on possible litigation.
  • Monitoring compliance to applicable codes, practices, policies, performance standards and
    specifications.
  • Interacting daily with the clients to interpret their needs and requirements and representing them in the field
  • Perform overall quality control of the work (budget, schedule, plans, personnel’s
    performance) and report regularly on project status.
  • Assign responsibilities and mentor project team.
  • Cooperate and communicate effectively with project manager and other project participants
    to provide assistance and technical support.
  • Review engineering deliverables and initiate appropriate corrective actions.

Requirements and skills

I. BSC Degree in Civil Engineering. Those with qualifications in project Management shall
have an added advantage.
ii. 5 Years Project Management experience
iii. Excellent knowledge of CAD design such as AutoCAD and 3D visualization software
iv. Advanced MS Office skills
v. Familiarity with rules, regulations, best practices and performance standards
vi. Ability to work with multiple discipline projects
vii. Project management and supervision skills
viii. Decision making ability and leadership skills
ix. Time management and organization skills
