Nkhoma Synod Youth Department invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill the vacant positions as follows;

Position : Programs   Officer
Supervisor : Youth and Children’s Director
Duty Station : Lilongwe
Contract period : 1 year

 

Job summary

The holder will be responsible for mobilizing and coordinating partner level work, writing proposals for projects, overseeing the progress of any funded including Y– Malawi Youth Programs at Kalimanjira; and Nkhoma Chilenje World Vision funded programs.  He will be reporting to the   Nkhoma Synod Youth and Children’s Director.  The NSYCM Director may also assign him or her any other responsibilities as he may see them fit.

 

Purpose

To provide technical support, giving a clear picture and direction of the particular project, and ensuring that the desired impact through the implemented project has been achieved but holistically.

 

The Key Responsibilities: 

  • Championing the process of writing proposals for more relevant projects within our working jurisdictions.
  • Supporting the Department and in particular the Director with the delivery of all funded programs within any impact areas.
  • Providing and supporting the office of the Director with coordination and administration of the project.
  • Preparing the requests for the activities to be implemented and liquidation with the Finance Officer.
  • Helping the department to embed its provision in a diverse group of sister organizations within the Synod and across the nation.
  • Ensuring that all activities being implemented are in line with the vision of the NSYCM, project objectives, work plan and the budget.
  • Tracking/monitoring day – to – day progress against scheduled work plans and overall project objectives.
  • Produce and submit quality and analytical periodic reports to Nkhoma Synod Youth and Children Ministry Director. He must always adhere to the donor reporting requirements.
  • Strengthen the documentation and case management system for the project successes
  • Timely and effective monitoring and evaluation of program activities as required
  • Coordinate with relevant local government structures as well as other stakeholders who are implementing the similar interventions.
  • Orienting field officers, volunteers and any stakeholders in the project implementation Cycle.
  • Doing needs assessment in liaison with the Field Officers and all relevant stake holders.

 

Required Experience, Qualification and Attributes

  • Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Monitoring and Evaluation or Community Development or Social Work from a well reputable Institution accredited by NCHE.
  • 3+ years of experience in a related field
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong understanding of financial reports, budgets, and reconciliations.
  • Possessing cultural awareness and sensitivity
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility and ability to follow official systems and procedures
  • Knowledge and skills in key computer packages: Word, Excel, Power point, internet.
  • A self-starter that can work with minimum supervision and willing to work extra hours when the call of duty demands.
  • Be a matured and devoted Christian of sound standing in their local church.
