VACANCY : IT SECURITY AND COMPLIANCE OFFICER

Malawi Telecommunications Limited (MTL) invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced Malawian candidates to fill the vacant position of IT Security and Compliance Officer tenable at its offices in Blantyre.

Position Summary: As an IT Security and Compliance Officer, you will play a critical role in safeguarding our digital networks, systems, and services. You’ll work in the IT Department and very closely with other teams to analyze, assess, and mitigate potential security risks. Your responsibilities will include implementing and maintaining security measures across various network components, servers, and services.

The main duties and responsibilities will include but not limited to the following:

• Design, implement, and monitor security systems to prevent data breaches and unauthorized access.
• Configure and maintain Cisco and Checkpoint firewalls, as well as security measures in routers, switches, and other network equipment.
• Oversee security for servers running Linux and Windows operating systems.
• Ensure the security of Wi-Fi networks and other services on the network.
• Define and enforce corporate security policies and best practices.
• Conduct penetration testing and respond promptly to security incidents.
• Act as a consultant, suggesting modifications to enhance IT security.
• Conduct Security Awareness and Training.

The successful candidate should have the following qualifications and attributes:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Certifications in GSEC, SSCP, CISM, CEH or CISSP preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role or equivalent in a medium to large organization with interbranch connectivity.
• Strong knowledge of firewall installation, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and network maintenance.
• Routing and switching knowledge and experience Experience with information assurance and server security.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
