CARE Malawi has secured funding from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) for the McGovern-Dole International Food for Education and Child Nutrition Program, locally titled ‘Tiwoloka’. The funding runs from October 1, 2024 to September 30, 2029. CARE Malawi will implement the project in partnership with the Forum for African Women Educationists in
Malawi (FAWEMA) and Water Aid.

Therefore, CARE Malawi seeks to recruit well qualified persons to fill the following vacant positions within its USDA funded McGovern dole Food for Education program i.e. Tiwoloka Project in Malawi:

PROJECT MONITORING AND EVALUATION OFFICER (4)

Position Description

The Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer will support the effective implementation and assessment of our school feeding program. The M&E Officer will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and reporting data related to program outcomes, ensuring that the program meets its objectives and contributes to improved nutrition and educational outcomes for children.

Specific duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Develop and implement data collection tools and methodologies to monitor program activities, outputs, and outcomes.
  • Conduct regular field visits to schools and ECD Centers to gather qualitative and quantitative data on program implementation, including meal distribution, participation rates, and health indicators.
  • Monitor the impact of the school feeding program on student attendance, academic performance, and nutritional status.
  • Collaborate with field staff, ECD Management Committees and school administrators to ensure accurate data collection and reporting.
  • Prepare regular reports on program progress, highlighting successes, challenges, and lessons learned to inform stakeholders and guide program improvements.
  • Train and support school staff, ECD Caregivers, teachers and cooks, on data collection methods and the importance of monitoring and evaluation in improving program effectiveness.
  • Establish mechanisms for feedback from students, parents, and community members regarding the school feeding program to inform ongoing improvements.
  • Work closely with other program staff, local authorities, and stakeholders to ensure a coordinated approach to monitoring and evaluation.
  • Maintain organized and accurate records of M&E activities, including data sets, reports, and other relevant documentation.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Diploma in Monitoring and Evaluation, Public Health, Nutrition, Education, Social Sciences, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in monitoring and evaluation, data management, or related fields, preferably in nutrition or education programs.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Proficiency in data management software and Microsoft Office Suite
    (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
