Key Responsibilities:

Community Engagement
1. Formulate the procedure for engaging communities at different levels of participation, empowerment, and capacity to address matters influencing child well-being within the technical programme.
2. Assess and build capacity of communities to take actions that produce positive and sustainable changes locally in the technical programme
3. Facilitate community participation in the implementation of transformational development interventions in the technical programme
4. Foster collaboration across government and service providers throughout the community in relation to issues affecting child well-being in the technical programme

 

Project Planning, Implementation, Monitoring & Reporting
1. Facilitate development and or review of detailed annual implementation plans for the sector aligned to the Technical Programme
2. Facilitate the implementation of technical programme interventions on time and within budget at cluster level
3. Facilitate Most Vulnerable Children and Disability Inclusion in the Technical Program
4. Implement technical programme risk mitigation plan at cluster level
5. Implement all technical programme audit findings within acceptable standards at cluster level
6. Conduct technical programme reviews with sector partners within a cluster
7. Conduct regular data collection under the sector for reporting and evaluation.
8. Review and input the involvement of technical programme project participants into the database.
9. Develop and submit monthly, quarterly, semi-annual & annual reports as required
10. Conduct community monitoring visits.
11. Document and share lessons learnt promising practices and change stories

 

Child Sponsorship integration
1. Facilitate Registered Children participation in sector level interventions
2. Facilitate Registered Children parents’ participation in sector interventions
3. Create sponsorship awareness among sector related stakeholders and community structures including Registered Children parents
4. Review Registered Children monitoring data (system reports from Area Sponsorship Officer and Volunteer home visit reports) to identify key sector issues affecting Registered Children and make appropriate follow up and referrals
5. Report Registered Children participation in sector related activities
6. Produce and share evidence of project impact on children including Registered Children.

7. Capture community videos on technical programme interventions for Sponsorship 2.0 products.
8. Conduct joint home visits for Registered Children households

Collaboration & Capacity building
1. Identify technical and organizational capacity gaps among community groups, volunteers, stakeholders and partners
2. Organize and implement capacity building initiatives at cluster level
3. Provide mentorship and coaching of trained groups (volunteers, committees and stakeholders)
4. Build the capacity of the community in disaster risk management in the technical programme
5. Facilitate establishment and strengthening of community networks, coalitions and partnerships for Child Well Being
6. Strengthen the capacities of grassroots partners and stakeholders in monitoring and evaluation.
 Community and local stakeholders’ capacity building plan in place
 Capacity building reports produced and shared
 Functional sector specific groups at community level (trained, community groups reports,
 Community groups
 Technical groups trained in disaster risk management
 Civil Protection Committees (CPCs) established and trained  Community Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning MEAL) capacity improvement plan implemented

Child Protection & Advocacy
1. Sensitize technical programme structures & partners on child and adult safeguarding behaviors and protocols.
2. Report and support follow up of child and adult safeguarding issues in technical programme.
3. Facilitate life skills activities for adolescents
4. Integrate Gender Equality and Social Inclusion & Faith and Development in technical programme interventions.
5. Mobilize and engage communities in technical programme specific issues using participatory methodologies (e.g. campaigns)
6. Facilitate linkages between community groups and relevant technical sector platforms
7. Identify sector related issues for advocacy
8. Build the capacity of community groups in advocacy using Citizen Voice and Advocacy (CVA)
9. Represent the program in relevant technical forums at local & district level
10. Facilitate interface meetings between service providers and community groups

 

Minimum education, training and experience requirements to qualify for the position:

The incumbent should have at least a degree in TP relevant field (i.e. Health & Nutrition, Environmental Health, Food Security, Irrigation, Natural Resource Management, Education, Water and Sanitation, Development Studies, Community, Rural Development

At least three years’ experience in project management at community level working with different partners including government, community structures and other CSO’s

3. Very good oral and written communication skills in English and ability to write quality report,

5. Analytical & critical thinking skills
6. Good collaboration skills
