Find Your Feet (FYF) is a local NGO dedicated to working with poor, rural communities to create lasting solutions to poverty. FYF envisions a world in which everyone has the right to build a future free from hunger and poverty and its mission is to mobilise local knowledge and skills and promote the ownership and use of natural resources by poor rural communities in finding sustainable solutions to hunger, poverty and discrimination.
FYF has been implementing the Sustainable Food Systems for Rural Agriculture Transformation and
Resilience Programme (TRANSFORM 2.0). This is a four-year program funded by the Royal Nornwegian.Embassy (RNE). The program is coordinated by Norwegian Church Aid-DanChurch Aid Malawi Joint Country Programme and the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU).
The overall objective is to strengthen local food systems in selected Extension Planning Areas (EPAs) in five of Malawi’s rural districts and to demonstrate a sustainable improvement of food and nutrition security, resilience to climate change and income among agriculture-dependent rural households. By increasing resilience to climate change
diversifying agriculture production, developing new value chains and closing the gender gap in agriculture the program will contribute towards transformation of the agricultural sector in Malawi.
FYF is now seeking well qualified and experienced person to fill the position of Marketing Officer which will be based at its Mzuzu Head Office;
Position: Marketing Officer

Duty station: Mzuzu Head Office
Reporting to: Project Coordinator
The incumbent will mainly be responsible coordinating, and implementing activities related to agribusiness component of the program. The Marketing Officer will take lead in mapping market structures, actors and their linkages in order to provide insight into the incentives, constraints and opportunities that restrict or
enable market systems to serve rural farmers in the project impact areas.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1) Project Management
- Lead in mapping studies and Value Chain analysis of various value chains among existing farmer group and formulate a strategy for enhancing market access
- Capacity Building of Agribusiness Promoters and farmers in business management and entrepreneurship
- Lead in the formation and strengthening of farmer organization to pursue business and high value farm-based commodities.
- Coordinate business to business seminars between commodity off-takers and farmer organizations
to share experiences and insights on entrepreneurship and enterprise development process such as processing, quality control, product presentation and marketing - Lead in identification and linkages of farmer organizations to input suppliers, buyers to obtain contract agreement
- Facilitating the establishment of market information centers
- Liaising with commercial partners in enhancing access to financial services for targeted farmers
- Develop and deploys market access solutions and tools to Field teams (including training)
- Establish and maintain professional, productive relationships with external market access stakeholders and policymakers to ensure access to profitable markets.
- Build alliances and expand market networks with key stakeholders within both pubic and private stakeholders
- Lead the development of market access strategies, models and approaches.
- Organize and attend national & local market related events in order to provide opportunities to meet stakeholders and engage then
- Develop market access deliverables in an efficient and timely manner (value dossiers, health economic models, publications)
- Conduct tirnely documertationof project progress through case studies, stonies. photos videos, among others.
- Take lead in advocacy and networking efforts on issues of marketing .
2. Monitoring, Learning, & Knowledge Management
- Facilitate collection of data and update project data bank in liaison wth the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer
- Prepare and submit timely monthly, quarterly, annually narrative and financial reports
- Participate in sector project concept and proposal development based on the identified needs.
- Timely submission of updates on daily basis as may be necessary and provide feedback to assignments given
- Facilitate identification and documentation of success stories.
Prepare and submit activity reports, quarterly and annual reports to the Project Coordinator
3. Networking & Collaboration
- Closely working with frontline government staff and stakeholders to enhance networking and
collaboration - Participate in EPA review meetings and fortnightly workshops.
- Represent FYF in other forums that foster learning and sharing of best practices at EPA level
- Represent FYF at relevant functions as may be requested by the line Manager
- Perform other duties as assigned from time to time by the line manager.
Qualifications
- At least a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Agribusiness, Business or a Related Field
- At least 5 years of relevant working experience preferably in the NGO sector
- Extensive Marketing Experience, Understanding of Business Practices and Budgeting
- Demonstrated ability and experience in community mobilization and community-level dialogue using participatory methods.
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office application package, and other Statistical software
- Interpersonal Communication.
Client Relationships, Writing, Public Speaking, Creativity, Innovation. - Should possess a valid driver’s license.
