II. STATEMENT OF DUTIES
As a member of the Motor Pool, the Chauffeur is responsible for driving Mission vehicles to: transport
United States Direct Hires (USDH), Third Country National Personal Services Contractors (TCNPSC),United States Personal Service Contractors(USPSC), and Cooperating Country National Personal Service Contractors (CCNPSC) Mission employees and official visitors in the conduct of official business; transport expendable and non-expendable supplies, equipment, and furnishings; and, as needed on special occasions (i.e., VIP visits, etc.).
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
● Drives personnel to and from official appointments on a definite schedule. Drives a school bus to
transport dependents to local school and return to residence. Delivers packages and messages to
various ministries and to project areas out of Lilongwe.
● Maintain a daily vehicle log and ensure that the passenger(s) signs the form upon completion of trip.
● Keeps his assigned vehicle clean and in a serviceable condition and performs minor preventive
maintenance.
● Must communicate in English on the radio and cell phone anytime he/she is in the vehicle in
accordance with the Drive Cam policy.
● Performs limited maintenance on vehicles of a preventive nature. Assured the vehicle is in good
running order by checking breaks, tires, etc.
● Completes trip and other daily vehicle records, fuel usage, maintenance, etc.
● Receives and accompanies designated official visitors.
The contractor may participate in the Foreign Service National Fellowship Program described in which includes possible Temporary Duty (TDY) travel to USAID/Washington or other Missions.
III. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION
Education: Completion of Secondary School is required (Malawi School Certificate of Education).
Prior Work Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience driving a motor vehicle is required, six (6)
months of which should have been as a professional Chauffeur.
Language Proficiency: Level 3 English and Chichewa or any local language (good working knowledge) is required. The Job Holder must be able to read manufacturers’ operating manuals for his/her assigned vehicle. The Job Holder must be able to read and/or complete a wide variety of forms.
Job Knowledge: Road Traffic Rules and Regulations of Roads of Malawi. Local road linkages to various cities and neighboring countries.
Skills and Abilities: Must have Class C or CI / Category PG local driver’s license. Three years accident-free driving record. Basic mechanical skills.
