About CAVWOC

The Center for Alternatives for Victimized Women and Children (CAVWOC) is a social service organization established in 1997 with the mission to empower abused, vulnerable, and marginalized women and children. CAVWOC focuses on survivors of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Sexual Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) violations, providing technical and psychosocial support to enable them to live healthy, socially, and economically empowered lives. To achieve its goals, CAVWOC builds the capacity of community structures and justice providers to reduce occurrences of GBV and increase access to knowledge on human rights and SRH services, including HIV and AIDS. The organization promotes quality, safe, and equitable education for girls, safe and portable water use, and the uptake of standard sanitary and hygiene practices. It also supports households in becoming food secure and increasing income levels.
