Senior Lawyer (Blantyre/Limbe)

Main Responsibilities:

• Provide legal advice and support to the Nacala Logistics Legal Manager on a wide range of legal activities related to the company.
• Advising on railway transport regulatory framework with a proper understanding of the main terms and conditions of Loan Agreements, Construction and Supply Agreements, EPC agreements and other typical contracts internationally used in the railway’s transports.
• Drafting and negotiating simple and complex contracts including but not limited to those related to railways transportation projects;
• Support the Nacala Logistics Legal Manager in the implementation of the company major legal projects and strategy to mitigate legal risks;
• Advising on general business law issues and managing the legal issues of all areas of the company, including but not limited to corporate matters, project finance matters, procurement, safety, security, insurance and sustainability issues;
• Represent the department as required in liaison with the Nacala Logistics Legal Manager and business units;
• Cooperation with the members of the legal department abroad and within the Nacala Logistics companies;
• Anticipate and manage the (legal) risks connected with or resulting from the business strategy operations;
• Secure compliance of business operations with relevant law and regulations;

Qualification & Person Specification:

• Have a Law Degree
• Membership in the Malawi Bar
• Strong legal experience in corporate, commercial and employment matters;
• Experience in the following areas: M&A, Project Finance and Construction and EPC Agreements;
