The Human Resource Society of Malawi (HRSM) is a professional body for trained Human Resource Professionals in Malawi. The HRSM was duly registered by the Government of Malawi on 8th August 2018 under the Trustees Incorporation Act (CAP 5:03). The Society’s offices are based in Lilongwe the capital city of Malawi.

Opportunities have arisen in one of our partners, which is one of the tobacco growing and research organizations, for highly motivated professionals with requisite academic qualifications, technical expertise, and experience to fill various existing vacant positions as follows;

Financial Accountant

Location: Kasungu
Reports to: Finance and Administration Manager
Responsible for: Administration Team

Purpose of the position

The incumbent with the finance and administration team will be responsible in analysing the economic stability and provide financial information to other departments for decision making.

Duties & Responsibilities

The incumbent will among other duties perform the following duties and responsibilities: –

  • Prepare and examine financial records, assuring information is up to date and accurate.
  • Analyze, reconcile, balance, and maintain accounting records to develop special financial reports.
  • Monitor revenue and expense to ensure that expenditure control follows proper and applicable accounting procedures.
  • Coordinate the preparation of regularly scheduled and special billings, costs reports, analyses, inventories, and preliminary financial statements for funding sources.
  • Review and approve expenditure and procurement documents for availability of funding, completeness and accuracy of documents, and compliance with approved accounting policies.
  • Provide assistance to departments and individuals in interpreting reports, accounting procedures, controls and in resolving associated problems.
  • Ensure that farm operations are conducted efficiently and cost-effectively.
  • Manage Accounts receivables and accounts payables.
  • Keep a daily back up of accounting data.
  • Supervise the work of the Finance and Accounts Section staff by ensuring that they complete tasks assigned to them on time.
  • Coordinate preparation of the annual budget.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor of Accountancy from a recognized University.
  • Must be a member of ICAM.
  • Five years practical work experience in a busy accounting office.
