MAC-Communicable Diseases Action Centre (MAC-CDAC) is a university research center at Kamuzu University of Health sciences working on research to address priority global health problems such as malaria, HIV/AIDS, maternal and child health, neglected tropical diseases and other communicable diseases. With funding from the National Institute of Health, MAC is a designated International Centre of Excellence for Malaria Research (ICEMR). Over the next seven years, the center will be working with collaborators from the following universities: Michigan State, Boston, Maryland, Harvard and Michigan to understand how novel malaria interventions are affecting malaria transmission in Malawi. To undertake these activities, the center urgently needs the services of the following key personnel:

Project Finance and Administration Manager – Blantyre

Position summary

The Project Finance and Administration Manager will play a critical role of supporting the financial and administrative aspects of the activities under the ICEMR. The person will take a lead role in financial reporting, budgeting, grant compliance, and general administrative tasks related to funded projects.

Duration of contract: The initial contract will be for one year with possibility for further extension based on performance and availability of funding.

Reporting Line: He/ She will be reporting to the Principal Investigator

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Budget preparation and monitoring for grant-funded projects.

  • Preparation and submission of financial reports and statements for grantors and internal stakeholders.

  • Ensuring compliance with grant budgets

  • Ensuring that center and its collaborators adhere to reporting requirements of USG funding.

Required education, skills and experience

The applicant should have a minimum of Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field plus ACCA qualification. Should have a minimum of seven years of relevant experience and at least three years in a supervisory role. Should be an attention to detail person with the highest degree of integrity. Those that have worked previously on USG funded programs and have worked within fast paced multicultural environment will have an added advantage.
