Field Officer: Natural Resource Management at FOCCAD

FOCCAD

FOCCAD in partnership with CARE Malawi will be implementing the DREAMS project in Thyolo district aimed at promoting community resilience and livelihoods during emergencies. Vacancies exist for well qualified individuals to support with the implementation of the program as follows:
Field Officer: Natural Resource Management- Thyolo
Reporting to: Program Officer: Agriculture and Livelihoods-FOCCAD
Responsibilities
  • Support rehabilitation of watersheds in areas that are heavily deforested using the integrated watershed management approach (IWM)
  • Support restoration of natural resources through soil and water conservation.
  • Support promotion of technical practices for watershed restoration and conservation agriculture practices.
  • Support planting trees along degraded areas around community gardens
  • Lead in community reclamation of gullies heading to community productive assets
  • Establish community-based committees for sustainability and ownership.
  • Lead training of extension workers on water shed management
  • Support farmer field school approaches with targeted communities.
Qualifications:
  • Degree in Environmental Science or General Agriculture
  • Strong experience in resilience and livelihoods programing
  • Strong experience in water shed management approaches and technologies
  • Strong experience in emergency response and resilience development
  • Knowledge of farmer field school approaches and quick win extension interventions in emergencies.
Field Officer- Maternal Infant Young Child Nutrition (MIYCN)- Thyolo
Reporting to: Program Coordinator: Agriculture and Livelihoods
Responsibilities
  • Disseminate positive behavior change nutrition messages through Community
  • Support management of nutrition Monitors and Care groups.
  • Support Community-Led Complimentary Feeding and Learning Sessions
  • (CCFLS)
  • Provide skilled counseling and support at Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF)
  • Facilitate establishment of nutrition supportive spaces
  • Promote male engagement on Maternal Infant and Young Child Nutrition
  • Promote Hygiene and Sanitation facilities in households.
  • Conduct food preparation demonstrations on diversified diets
  • Support Nutrition coordinating structures to increase and sustain nutrition gains.
Qualifications:
  • Degree in Food Sciences and or Nutrition
  • Strong experience in managing nutrition in emergencies
  • Strong knowledge in care group model for mothers
  • Experience in managing hygiene and sanitation activities at a nutrition perspective.
