CAMFED (the Campaign for Female Education) is internationally recognized as a leader in girls’ education, for its child protection policy and practice, and as a voice for girls’ education and women’s empowerment at the highest levels. Founded in 1993, CAMFED supports girls throughout their primary and secondary school years and supports women to transition to productive and fulfilling livelihoods and onto leadership, as role models, activists, and philanthropists. CAMFED operates in Ghana, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Malawi.

CAMFED began working in Malawi in 2009, and is currently operating in all the districts, working closely with the Ministry of Education.

We seek to recruit qualified and experienced candidates for the following positions:

Job Title: Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Officer (2)

Report to: Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Manager

Hours: Full-time – 37.5hrs per week

Location: Blantyre and Lilongwe

Principle Accountability

The MEL officer is responsible for supporting the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning activities within the CAMFED Malawi program.

Duties

  • Ensure quality, timely consolidation of programme data in Salesforce
  • Conduct regular analysis of data per programme requirements
  • Coordinate preparation of the quarterly and annual budgets for Monitoring and Evaluation activities in CAMFED Malawi
  • Capture MEL & Program activities into the Salesforce database
  • Provide support to stakeholders responsible for data gathering and analysis for CAMFED Malawi
  • Consolidate, clean and upload bursary client data into the Salesforce database for entitlement processing
  • Identify trends and variances in the programme and advise relevant programme staff
  • Generate and analyze data for donor reports, district and school use
  • Provide training and support to programme staff in data collection using ODK
  • Ensure data collection tools are being used effectively and programme data meet the CAMFED standards for quality.
  • Actively participate in research studies and dissemination of findings
  • Administer and Capture ODK and Paper-based Pre-post training surveys
  • Manage data collected electronically and in paper-based form, and facilitate the transition to Salesforce
  • Compilation and drafting of MERL activity reports
  • Participate in the collation of the CAMFED Annual Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Document programme success stories and good practices.
  • Any other duties as defined by line manager

Required Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Statistics, Development Studies, Monitoring and Evaluation or any relevant degree.
  • 3 or more years’ experience working in Monitoring and Evaluation in Education sector or related field.
  • Commitment and passion for CAMFED’s values, mission and vision
  • Strong logical and analytical skills
  • Excellent Excel, PowerPoint and MS Word skills and experience of databases
  • Familiarity with Salesforce database is an added advantage
  • Ability to analyze qualitative and quantitative information and present it effectively for a variety of audiences
  • Attention to detail
  • A flexible, proactive approach to work
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Dedicated to upholding the Child Protection Policy and implementing Safeguarding Strategies
  • Willingness to travel at least 20%
